Winking Studios, a leading Asian firm known for outsourcing in the triple-A gaming space, has recently made a noteworthy move by acquiring China’s Mineloader.
This acquisition, valued at £16.3 million ($19.87 million), includes an initial payment of $14.7 million. The remaining amount will be disbursed over the next five years, contingent upon Mineloader hitting certain performance milestones. Established in 2003, Mineloader has carved out a niche for itself as an art outsourcing specialist.
Johnny Jan, the CEO and founder of Winking Studios, commented, “This is our biggest acquisition yet and is a significant leap forward, enhancing our standing in the global gaming arena, and opening up exciting new possibilities for growth and creativity.”
Jan further emphasized the importance of game art, noting it as a critical element in video game creation. He highlighted its role in capturing players’ imagination and shaping the entire gaming experience. He expressed his enthusiasm about integrating Mineloader’s skilled team of over 460 employees into their current workforce of more than 800. This move is expected to not only strengthen their service capabilities but also expand their client base. He also highlighted Mineloader’s solid footing in the Japanese market as a strategic advantage for Winking Studios’ business network.
