Studio Fizbin, the creative force behind Reignbreaker, is sadly winding down operations by the end of this month. The announcement came through a statement on their official website, picked up by Game Developer, revealing the company will be closing its doors shortly after Reignbreaker hits the market on March 18th. Founder and CEO Alexander Pieper indicated that this tough decision was heavily influenced by Thunderful’s move to significantly cut back on its internal development.
In Pieper’s words, “Right now, the gaming industry is going through a challenging period, and like many other amazing studios, we haven’t been immune to its effects in recent months.”
He elaborated further, “Our parent company, Thunderful, opted to make significant reductions in their internal development back in November 2024. As mentioned by Thunderful CEO Martin in the latest quarterly report, this decision impacted us at Studio Fizbin as well. Since then, we’ve been actively exploring other projects to dive into after wrapping up Reignbreaker. Sadly, these plans won’t come to fruition, prompting us to make this tough call.”
Pieper offered heartfelt gratitude: “We owe so much to every single fan out there for your purchases, fan art, comments, reviews, your fiery enthusiasm, and your unwavering support.”
He didn’t stop there, extending thanks to business partners and sponsors: “A massive thank you goes to our business partners, Medienboard, the MfG, Creative Europe, and the federal funding partners who have stood by us.”
Concluding with a nod to the team that brought it all together, he added: “Our deepest gratitude belongs to our team—those with us till the end and those who’ve embarked on new journeys along the way. Studio Fizbin and its games were shaped by our team members, and you all made this an incredibly inspiring place to pull off the toughest magic trick in the world: creating games.”
