On March 18, Fallout 76 is gearing up for an exciting transformation with its Ghoul Within update and the launch of Season 20. For the first time, players can become a Ghoul character, unlocking fresh buildcrafting opportunities and unique combat mechanics. As players immerse themselves in their new roles, they’ll gradually uncover intriguing interactions and quests tailored to Ghouls. However, don’t expect these changes to happen overnight. It’s likely that existing quests won’t immediately feature special scenarios for Ghoul players, as integrating these complex interactions requires time.
Initially, players embracing their new Ghoul identity might find that the experience feels somewhat disjointed. While this awkward phase won’t last forever, the transition could have been smoother. Introducing a Ghoul CAMP ally could have been a fantastic addition to ease players into their new role. Despite the potential, the Season 20 SCORE rewards list is already public, and sadly, a Ghoul CAMP ally is nowhere to be found, marking a missed opportunity for the game.
With the Ghoul Within and Season 20 update, Fallout 76 introduces an intriguing new questline and characters, but the scarcity of fresh interactions for players transforming into Ghouls might disappoint some fans. Understandably, updating nearly seven years of content with new dialogue and quest outcomes is a daunting task. This challenge extends to the existing CAMP allies as well. Despite two current Ghoul CAMP allies, Xerxo and Leo Petrov, it appears there won’t be any special interactions for players who become Ghouls, which might contribute to a somewhat awkward transition with the new update.
Adding a fresh Ghoul CAMP ally would help bridge the gap and offer a more cohesive experience for players. Fallout 76’s community has long awaited additional CAMP allies, similar to Beckett and Sofia Daguerre, who feature expansive storylines and can be romanced. The game currently has a fair share of “lite” allies with limited interactions, highlighting the need for richer, more engaging allies.
As Season 20 gears up with Ghoul-themed rewards, it might be a while before such themes return to future seasons. CAMP allies often debut within these reward tracks, making now an opportune moment to introduce a new Ghoul CAMP ally. Despite missing this chance, the demand for new allies remains, and introducing a Ghoul-themed ally could significantly enrich the player experience. Bethesda shouldn’t hesitate to add such an element in upcoming updates, ensuring that the Ghoul role is as immersive and rewarding as possible.
