Glover has made its grand entrance on the Nintendo Switch, courtesy of Interactive Studios, Piko Interactive, and QUByte Interactive. In this review, we’re diving into all that’s new and nostalgic about this classic game.
Originally developed by Interactive Studios—founded as Dizzy Entertainment and later known as Blitz Games by the renowned Oliver Twins—Glover invites you into a whimsical 3D puzzle platformer experience. Here, you’ll step into the shoes—well, glove, actually—of the character Glover, guiding your magical ball from one point to another across an array of intriguing levels.
The journey of Glover began in 1998, with its debut on the Nintendo 64 via Hasbro Interactive, and it later hopped onto the original PlayStation under the Atari Interactive name in 1999. Fast forward to 2025, and thanks to the QUByte Classic series, this charming game is spinning its way onto the Nintendo Switch, rekindling the fun for both new players and seasoned fans. Back to the Crystal Kingdom we go!
You’ll find yourself on a quest to reclaim the lost crystals that power the Kingdom. Due to a wizard’s accidental potion mishap, a burst sends these essential crystals crashing, while Glover himself is flung into the chaos. Quickly thinking, Glover transforms the crystals into rubber balls to prevent destruction. With Glover as your protagonist, a magical glove assisting the wizard, you’ll face off against Cross-Stitch, the villainous alter ego of Glover’s partner, Glovel, who became corrupted after a fateful plunge into a cauldron.
Across six dynamic levels—Atlantis, Carnival, Pirates, Prehistoric, Fortress of Fear, and Out of This World—you’ll search high and low for those elusive crystals. Completionists will be kept on their toes, as finding all collectible Garibs and mastering the bonus levels is key to fully conquering each world.
Controlling Glover brings a sense of nostalgia mixed with modern gameplay style. Navigate using the left analog stick, with the right stick adjusting your view. You can tweak the camera using the X button, perform jumps and double jumps with A, and dribble your ball using B. Execute a ground pound with ZR as you leap. To stand atop your ball, press L. Mastering ball manipulation is vital—you’ll be tossing and slapping it across gaps with B and A, while cycling through forms using R. The familiar rubber ball takes center stage in your adventure, with further surprises waiting as you progress.
Whether you’re reliving past memories or discovering Glover for the first time, this game’s release sparks excitement. Aside from its main campaign, the Extras section provides a rich gallery of game art, showcasing the creativity behind its characters, bosses, and environments.
Priced at $19.99 on the Nintendo Switch, Glover invites gamers to an old-school yet charming 3D platforming adventure. With its blend of nostalgia and fresh appeal, it’s a throwback worth revisiting.
