Japanese speedrunner Ikaboze has already conquered the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, reaching the end credits in record time.
During the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience: Tokyo event, Ikaboze began with an autosave positioned just outside Hyrule Castle. With swift strategic moves, he ditched his gear and dashed into the heart of the castle to defeat Calamity Ganon and Dark Beast Ganon, the formidable manifestations of hatred and malice.
Remarkably, he accomplished this impressive feat within the demo’s strict 20-minute time limit, spending about 5 minutes in Handheld Mode before switching to TV Mode for the remaining 10 minutes. Ikaboze’s achievement possibly makes him the first in the world to vanquish Link’s ultimate foe in this enhanced version.
The Nintendo Switch 2 Edition boasts notable improvements, offering smoother frame rates, quicker load times, and enhanced graphics, along with the new Zelda Notes service. However, it’s confirmed that the Expansion Pass downloadable content won’t be bundled with this release.
For those who already own the game, Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members will enjoy the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition upgrade as part of their subscription.
This updated version of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is set for a worldwide release on June 5, 2025, both in stores and on the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2.
