Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers, the much-anticipated anime adaptation of the beloved fighting game series, is gearing up for its big debut.
So, do you lean more toward heaven or hell? If you’ve got a soft spot for either, then there’s a good chance you’re a Guilty Gear fan. And great news for you: the anime adaptation of this iconic series is set to premiere in April 2025. Arc System Works has just rolled out a new trailer that transforms Strive’s dynamic 3D style into an exhilarating anime series. Fans will be excited to know it’s heading to Crunchyroll. While the trailer only gives an April timeline, the official website goes a step further, pinpointing April 5 as the air date. Whether Crunchyroll plans to simulcast it is still up in the air, but expect more details as we get closer.
The trailer also gives us a sneak peek at several returning favorites, including Sol Badguy and Ky Kiske. Old friends like Bridget, Baiken, Dizzy, Jack-O’, Johnny, Leo, Elphelt, and Ramlethal are also making appearances. Plus, there’s a new face, Unika, whose role remains a bit of a mystery. However, it’s rumored she’ll be a playable character in Strive sometime this year.
The official narrative offers a compelling story: In a world where science and technology have waned, magic has become the dominant energy source. Out of the era’s darkness, forbidden biological weapons known as Gears rise. These Gears eventually rebel against humanity. Though humanity emerges victorious in the daunting Crusades, the scars of war run deep and persist through decades. At the heart of this saga is Sin Kiske, the child of a human, Ky, and a Gear, Dizzy. His parents are on the brink of an unprecedented wedding—between a human and a Gear.
“Despite achieving peace, it took years for the wedding to materialize amidst complex emotions. The ceremony is met with warm blessings until a mysterious girl crashes into the scene. The child of Gear lineage and the enigmatic girl are destined to collide, shaking the foundation of their world.”
That might sound like a wild ride, but isn’t that what Guilty Gear is all about? The series has always embraced its unique flair.
