Boston-based game developer The Molasses Flood has officially become a part of Polish gaming powerhouse, CD Projekt Red. According to an announcement on their website, as of April 1st, The Molasses Flood has been fully integrated into the company known for Cyberpunk 2077. Importantly, they noted that this merger will not impact their previous games, The Flame in the Flood and Drake Hollow, which they created before CD Projekt acquired them in 2021. Presently, the studio is focused on developing Project Sirius, a multiplayer title rooted in The Witcher universe.
Alongside this significant development, The Molasses Flood’s founder, Damian Isla, has decided to step away from the studio. Reflecting on this transition, he expressed on LinkedIn, “This marks a major shift for me. The Molasses Flood has been a significant chapter in my life for over ten years. I’m proud of being part of something that endured as long as it did, especially in an industry that can be quite challenging for small teams like ours. We’ve created some beautiful, unique, and memorable projects, and I’ve had the privilege of working with some of the most talented, generous, and kindhearted people in the field.”
