Disney Dreamlight Valley is stirring up quite the excitement with the announcement of its upcoming update. Slated for release on April 23, the update, dubbed Wonderland Whimsy, draws inspiration from Disney’s timeless classic, Alice in Wonderland. For weeks, fans have been buzzing with anticipation as hints have been steadily dropped about the theme of this springtime update.
The curiosity began building when Disney Dreamlight Valley unveiled its 2025 Free Content Roadmap last November. The winter segment of this roadmap caught players’ attention with artwork showing Jasmine’s signature headband paired with Aladdin’s fez, leading to accurate speculation about the duo’s arrival in the Winter 2025 update. Similarly, the spring illustration depicted a shadowy woodland setting lit up by a mischievous grin, reminiscent of the Cheshire Cat’s smile. This fueled rumors that Alice in Wonderland would soon be the focus. The suspicions were confirmed as the game’s social media channels released teaser videos on April 14, announcing the Wonderland Whimsy update.
As with all updates, players can look forward to a slew of new content in Disney Dreamlight Valley. Each update typically brings fresh characters, enhanced gameplay features, a revamped Star Path, exclusive items in the Premium Shop, and more. This time, players can welcome Alice and the Cheshire Cat to the Valley. Both characters come with a series of Friendship Rewards spread across ten levels, as is tradition.
To unlock these whimsical characters, adventurers must first navigate the Wonderland Realm. This journey involves following Alice down the rabbit hole, exploring the mysterious forest, and tackling the Queen of Hearts’ card soldier maze. Alice’s quests introduce a new tea party feature, while the Cheshire Cat promises to add a touch of chaos by appearing randomly across the Valley.
The update’s Star Path, aptly named Garden of Whimsy, remains true to the spring and Alice in Wonderland theme while drawing inspiration from the Disney Fairies franchise. The attire featured is an eclectic mix of pixie and Victorian styles. Plus, a unique Premium Dreamstyle will transform Minnie Mouse, and joining the ensemble is the iconic smoking caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland, now in butterfly form, serving as the new companion.
The Wonderland Whimsy update doesn’t shy away from enhancing gameplay comfort. Although it played a joke on its community with the fictional Dreamlight Stompers on April Fools’ Day, the actual new feature is the Uncrafting station. This addition offers the same gameplay as the teased April Fools’ item and becomes available during the Cheshire Cat’s Friendship Quests.
Moreover, storage solutions are refined with new purchase options for chest slots, and a new sub-grid feature in build mode allows for more creative display surfaces. Disney Dreamlight Valley fans can also prepare for May 4 with Star Wars items making their way into the Premium Shop.
