Grab your favorite drink because there’s some exciting news on the horizon. Amazon MGM has officially announced that the next James Bond movie is now in production in London. The film is being produced by the talented duo of Amy Pascal and David Heyman. This announcement was made at the Cinemacon event in Las Vegas, where it’s likely at least one cheeky reference to Casino Royale made the rounds among the attendees.
Amazon MGM studio executives Courtenay Valenti and Sue Kroll shared their thoughts with the crowd, saying, "We are committed to honoring the legacy of this iconic character while bringing a fresh, exotic new chapter to audiences around the world alongside Amy and David. They’re kicking things off in London and couldn’t join us tonight, but we wanted to express our gratitude for what promises to be an incredible partnership."
Earlier this year, in February, Amazon MGM gained full creative control over the James Bond franchise when longtime producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli stepped down from their roles. It’s been reported that Broccoli had some less than flattering words for Amazon execs, calling them "f**king idiots," but she’s since moved on to new projects. This transition has given Amazon the green light to craft James Bond movies, TV shows, and more to its corporate heart’s delight.
As for the details of the upcoming Bond film, much remains under wraps. The burning question on everyone’s mind is, of course, who will be stepping into the legendary role of James Bond. Ever since Daniel Craig exited the stage after "No Time to Die," rumors have been flying. With production now underway, we hope to find out the new 007 in the near future.
