A recent leak has uncovered an exciting glimpse into the latest Mega Evolutions arriving in “Pokemon Legends: Z-A,” slated for release in late 2025. While teasers had previously hinted at transformations like Mega Falinks resembling a Voltron-like assembly and Mega Starmie sporting elongated legs, this is the first visual confirmation of new Mega Evolutions within the game.
This latest revelation showcases three intriguing Mega Evolutions: Dragonite, Clefable, and Falinks. Keep in mind, though, previous leaks suggest that we’re in for a total of 27 new Mega Evolutions in the game. Naturally, more information is bound to surface over time. Until we receive confirmation from The Pokemon Company and Game Freak, it’s wise for fans to take this news with a pinch of skepticism.
Nonetheless, Game Rant has independently verified documents acquired by Jenny during a Typhlosion Raid, offering a closer look at these three new forms. The documents not only feature images but also provide details on the Mega Evolutions. Dragonite’s new form sports a color scheme reminiscent of its predecessors while adopting a stronger yet more laid-back demeanor, drawing inspiration from a creature dubbed the “Relaxaurus” in the real world. Meanwhile, there are two versions of Mega Falinks, with one leak revealing its face uncovered to reveal a cute, glowing, ball-shaped lamb—affectionately called a Lamball. Clefable’s appearance receives a slight tweak, with its face and torso adopting more feline-like qualities, seemingly inspired by a real-world creature known as Cattiva.
The leak further reveals that there are significant changes coming to the Mega Evolution mechanics. Game Freak is moving away from the traditional naming conventions to avoid redundancy, such as with names like Mega Meganium. While we don’t yet know all the specifics, these three are now named Dragonite Cryst, Clefable Botan, and Falinks Lux. Previously, Mega Evolutions required holding a Mega Stone, typically ending in “-ite.” To circumvent issues like “Dragoniteite,” players must now capture their Pokémon within a “Mega Sphere.”
The overhaul of Mega Evolution mechanics in “Pokemon Legends: Z-A” is indeed a surprising turn, but a welcome one at that. We’ll have to wait and see which of these new forms will rise to be competitive titans or fan favorites, though it’s easy to imagine that Dragonite Cryst could be a top contender in both aspects.
