Nintendo has just shared its latest update on the top 10 best-selling games for the Nintendo Switch, and the numbers are impressive. The Switch itself has been a phenomenal hit, firmly cementing its position as one of the best-selling video game consoles ever. Much of this success can be attributed to its expansive library of critically acclaimed titles.
The Switch’s game collection is vast, boasting some all-time greats as exclusives. Plus, with Nintendo’s online subscription, players can enjoy a treasure trove of classic retro titles. The immense player base eagerly keeps the momentum going, prompting Nintendo to update its best-sellers list every quarter.
In this latest update, while the order of the top 10 titles hasn’t changed, each has reached new sales milestones. Sitting comfortably at the top is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which remains the unbeaten champion with 67.35 million copies sold. Hot on its wheels is Animal Crossing: New Horizons with 47.44 million copies, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate takes third place with 35.88 million sold. The epic The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has moved 32.62 million copies, while Super Mario Odyssey follows with 29.04 million. Pokemon Sword and Shield are at 26.60 million, with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet close behind at 26.38 million. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom stands at 21.55 million, followed by Super Mario Party at 21.10 million, and rounding out the list is New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe with 18.06 million.
Looking forward, it will be intriguing to see how this list might evolve once the anticipated Switch 2 arrives. There’s potential for sales of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet to outpace Sword and Shield eventually, even though the latter was better received critically. It’s also likely we’ll see a shake-up as Super Mario Party Jamboree’s impressive sales could nudge it into the top 10.
While some major hitters are still in the pipeline, Nintendo has made fans eager by confirming several big releases for 2025. Titles like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, Pokemon Legends: Z-A, and Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition are all set for launch later this year. However, given the timing, it might be tough for any of these to crack the all-time top 10. Rumors suggest that Metroid Prime 4 and Legends: Z-A could have versions for the rumored Switch 2, adding more excitement to the mix. Whatever happens, it’ll certainly be interesting to keep an eye on how these numbers progress.
